M78 - Diffuse Reflection Nebula
M78 is a diffuse reflection nebula in the constellation Orion and is the brightest of such nebulae. This nebula is part of the vast Orion complex. More images and information about this nebula can be found at the Messier Index - M78 and also at Wikipedia - M78.
This image is a three-hour RGB composite of 60 mimutes in each color channel through a William Optics FLT-110, f/7 refractor and a SXV-H9 CCD camera taken on 3 January 2009.
