The California Nebula (NGC 1499)
NGC 1499, the California Nebula, is an emission nebula in the constellation Perseus located at a distance of approximately 1000 light years. More information about this nebula can be found at SEDS - The California Nebula and Wikipedia.
This image is a 86-minute Hydrogen-Alpha filtered image of a small region of this much larger object taken on 26 November 2011. The image was obtained through a William Optics FLT110 4.3" f/7 refractor with an SXV-H9 CCD camera.
