NGC 1055
NGC 1055 is a type-Sb, spiral galaxy in the constellation Cetus located approximately 30 arcseconds from M77. This galaxy is seen nearly edge-on from our view and contains a dark equatorial dust lane. This true color image is composed from a 28.5-minute IR-filtered white composite from 114, 15-second exposures taken on 18 September and 6 November 1999 along with cyan (25x15sec), magenta (20x15sec) and yellow (23x15sec) exposures from 18 September. The white component of this image is shown below.
