M44 - Beehive Cluster

M44 (NGC 2632) is also known as Praesepe and is a bright open cluster of stars in the constellation Cancer.    Its located 577 light years away and consists of hundreds of stars.

 This image is an LRGB composite from multiple 15-second subexposures totaling 52, 13.25, 11.5, and 12.5 minutes respectively through a WO 4" f/7 refractor with an SXV-H9 detector using RGB filters.   The image was taken on 9 March 2008.
