M39 - Open Cluster

M39 - Open Cluster in Cygnus

M39 (NGC 7092) is an open cluster of stars in the constellation Cygnus.    It's located about 800 light years away and consists of 30 to 50 stars. The estimated age of the cluster is between 230 and 300 million years.

 This image is an RGB composite from 20, 16, and 20-minute exposures for each respective color channel.   The image was obtained on 4 September 2008 through a WO 4.3" f/7 refractor with an SXV-H9 detector using RGB filters.
